A GROUP of top-achieving readers were handed prizes to mark their accomplishments.
The year seven youngsters at Tendring Technology College’s Thorpe campus received the awards after standing out in the school’s accelerated reading scheme.
Some students were rewarded for joining the school’s Millionaire Club – reserved for those who read more than a million words.
Awards were also given to Jessica Lin and Ethan Jermain-Collis for achieving 100 per cent on a series of quizzes.
And other prizes for accelerated reading were dished out to Matthew Homes-Gifford, Edward Philpot, Georgia Euripidou, Rayhan Hafiz, Sian Connell, Amelia Syrett and Ernie Wolton, while Cameron Marlborough and Bradley Roberts were also rewarded for their efforts.
The prizes were handed out at a special assembly celebrating the pupils’ success.
A special reading cup trophy filled with sweets was also given to the top tutor group.
