RUBBISH collections will continue over the festive period in a bid to minimise disruption for residents.

Most residents will have their waste picked up two days after they normally would between December 25 and January 6.

Collections will be made one day after the normal date from January 6 to January 11.

The service will return to normal from Monday January 13.

Tendring Council has worked with contractors Veolia Environmental Services to keep the collections running regularly over Christmas.

Council environment boss Nick Turner said: “We have had to take into account waste and recycling tipping arrangements with Essex County Council as we cannot make a collection if there are no sites open to take the materials.

“Together we can help to keep the district’s streets as clean and tidy as possible over the festive period.”

Council offices will close at 4pm on Tuesday and open again after Christmas on Friday December 27.

Offices will also be closed on New Year’s Day before reopening on January 2.

People can contact the council’s control centre on 01255 222022 in emergencies while the offices are closed.
