A CHARITY event launched to help fight rare diseases was hailed a huge success despite being hit by disastrous weather conditions.
The boogie night fundraiser was held at the Oak Mead Social Club in St Osyth to boost the DDRD Foundation, a charity set up to help battle Dercums and other unusual diseases.
And people turned out in force to the boogie bash, despite it taking place the day after major flood warnings saw large numbers of residents evacuated.
The 70s-themed party included music, dancing, a raffle and fancy dress competition, and raised more than £500.
Joining the party were a host of local dignitaries, councillors and representatives from other charities around the area.
A line-up of performers, including DJ Barry and Joe Ortiz kept visitors singing and dancing through the night.
Samantha Chapman, chairman of the Dercums Disease and Rare Disease Foundation, said: “It was a fantastic night with a great turn out of people showing support for our foundation."
