A CONSULTATION over controversial plans to lease Walton’s famous Naze clifftop has been extended.

Tendring Council is considering handing control of the green space to Essex Wildlife Trust with a 99-year lease.

It would mean the trust would take over management of the 45-hectare site.

The move has sparked outrage amongst some people, who fear it would lead to the introduction of restrictions on the site.

A consultation was launched by Tendring Council to gauge public opinion on the scheme, and it has now been extended to allow more comments.

People will now be able to submit comments up until January 17.

A site plan and terms of the lease are available at tendringdc.gov.uk.

Comments should emailed to assets@tendringdc.gov.uk or posted to Assets Manager, Tendring District Council, Station Road, Clacton, CO15 1SE.
