POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a series of burglaries in Clacton.

The latest incident saw crooks make off from a home in Astley Road with a haul of electrical goods and jewellery.

Burglars stole a laptop computer and jewellery, including a silver Tiffany bracelet, a silver charm necklace and a purple Venetian glass ring, from the house, during the day on Sunday.

Later that day, 2pm and 7.30pm, burglars attempted to smash their way into a house in Carrs Road.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “In both cases a pane of glass at the front of the house was smashed.

“At the house in Astley Road the suspect then reached through and managed to unlock the front door, but in the Carrs Road incident they failed to gain entry.”

In an unrelated incident burglars broke in to a bungalow in Lake Way, Jaywick, between 3pm and 5.35pm on Saturday afternoon, after smashing a pane in the front door.

“During the burglary, frozen food was strewn across the floor and several items of property were stolen,” added the police spokesman.

The stolen items included a 40ins Technika LED television, Hitachi stereo, silver teardrop shaped earrings and matching pendant made by Dew, a turquoise silk patterned jewellery box and wooden jewellery box, a man’s silver ring with a yellow stone and a silver ring with an oval shaped ‘tiger eye’ stone.
