TENDRING Council’s deputy leader has called on the Government to act and make sure all homes in Jaywick are made energy efficient.

Over the past two years more than 1,000 homes in Jaywick have been boosted by new insulation, heating and windows paid for by a Government grant.

But not all homes have received the improvement work.

A group of residents started the Justice for Jaywick campaign in a bid to force the completion of work on the remaining homes.

And their efforts have inspired Tendring Council deputy leader and housing boss Paul Honeywood to get involved.

Mr Honeywood has written to climate change minister Greg Barker asking him to look at the situation personally.

He said: “I am sure that the scheme as it was set up was not meant to work against homes in Jaywick but that is how it has worked out.

“We have situations where some people in the same street are able to get the work done - and others cannot.

“It has turned into a considerable local issue and is also of great concern to me.

“I am more than happy to show Mr Barker and his officials around so they can see the situation for themselves.”
