A CHARITY is offering free sacks of presents to underprivileged families to make sure no one misses out on Christmas.

Christian charity Asher Ministries, based in Clacton, launched its Blessing Bags scheme last year.

They buy and wrap bags pull of presents for children in low-income or needy families, dishing them out to people who ring up to register.

Eamonn Black, one of the founders of the Asher Ministries Clacton branch said: “The idea is to bless the struggling families and help anyone in trouble at this time of year.

“We particularly wanted to help out one-parent families and those with kids who aren’t going to get much in the way of presents at Christmas."

People can phone up and explain their circumstances to register for Blessing Bags for their children.

Charity staff take down the children’s age and gender so they can buy an appropriate haul of presents for them.

Eamonn added: “There’s no requirement on people, they just have to turn up and collect the presents. We don’t ask for anything in return, we just want to spread the Christmas message and a little festive cheer.”

Anyone interested in taking part in the scheme should call 01255 222111 before Monday December 23.
