Jaywick: Energy crusaders given hope

CAMPAIGNERS have been given hope in their crusade for energy improvements in Jaywick.

A group of residents set up the Justice for Jaywick scheme in a bid to get home-improvement schemes in the area re-started.

Energy companies have upgraded the boilers and insulation in hundreds of homes this year using Government funding.

But they were forced to leave Jaywick with completing work on all homes.

Campaigners have now met with representatives from the energy companies.

They have also received support in their cause from Tendring Council housing boss Paul Honeywood and local MP Douglas Carswell.

And they say they are hopeful of achieving their goal and seeing work on the remaining properties completed.

Coordinator Ron Reeves said: “It has been confirmed to us that there is £1.3billion in the pot to be distributed all over the country for energy improvements.

“This will hopefully include Jaywick.

“We feel much more optimistic in our cause knowing we have the backing of Mr Honeywood and Mr Carswell to help us move forward.

“This all about getting justice for Jaywick residents and we will keep people updated on our efforts.”
