WALTON and Frinton Yacht Club’s new base will be unveiled at a special event.

The brand new clubhouse is a few months from completion, but the building is now ready enough to be used for a fundraiser for the club.

Famous comedian, actor and TV personality Griff Rhys Jones – who is also a member of the Walton club – will take to the stage on December 6.

The celebrity will cover a range of subjects including his love of sailing and his relationship with the recently deceased Mel Smith.

Funds raised on the evening will go towards finishing the clubhouse building project.

Club member and project manager Martin Jenkins said: “Members are all looking forward to getting into the new building after saying goodbye to our old home in April.

“The building will take another few months to get near to the stage of being truly finished.

“But a big push by the dedicated small band of volunteer members, who have been working tirelessly through the summer, has seen the beautiful new function rooms get to the stage where they can be used.

“Griff who has long been a friend of the club has generously donated his time for this event in order to raise funds to help with the finishing of the building project. It should be a memorable evening.”

Tickets are available to members and their guests and are very limited.
