St Osyth: Doctor Who superfan transforms garden with life-sized Daleks

A SCI-FI superfan has transformed his front garden into a Doctor Who buff’s dreamworld.
Paul Friday’s St Osyth home was already immediately recognisable thanks to the blue Tardis time machine replica next to the front door.
But he has now added to his collection to create a spectacular Doctor Who display.
Paul, 42, who claims to be the world’s biggest fan of the hit sci-fi show, has been scouring auction website Ebay and finally found the perfect purchases.
He managed to get his hands on three full-sized Daleks, as well as Cyberman and K-9 replicas, forking out between £650 and £1,000 for each.
Paul said: “What started out as just a police box has turned into a bit of an exhibition now.
“We are seeing quite a few Daleks coming up for sale at the moment. With it being the anniversary year I think people think they can get a good price for them.
“I always do my research and it is all about finding them for the right price.
“My wife thinks I’m nuts. She thinks I’m on a different planet sometimes, but it’s a hobby that I enjoy and it keeps me out of trouble.”
Paul racked up the miles to pick up his new prized assets. He had to drive to Cornwall to pick up one Dalek, while another came from Nottingham.
Each Dalek stands at about 5ft 9ins tall, while the Cyberman is 6ft and the K-9 stands at 2ft.
Two of the Daleks are exact replicas from the 1970s TV series, while the third is from the 1960s films starring Peter Cushing.
Paul has even fitted a voice modulator to one of the Daleks so he can speak through the model in the famous robotic tone from inside the house.
He added: “I’ve completed the collection I always wanted now, but I haven’t ruled out adding more to it. Watch this space.”
