9:00am Sunday 3rd November 2013 in News
RAILWAY station adopters in Frinton have been given a special award for their hard work.
Volunteers Trevor and Diana Cobb won the Judges Special Award at service provider Greater Anglia’s annual Station Adopter Awards.
A special award ceremony was held to celebrate station adopters across the country at Ispwich Town FC’s Portman Road stadium.
The Frinton adopters were rewarded for their work over the past year, including creating a spectacular raised planter and pushing through plans for a new mural.
Greater Anglia’s Andrew Goodrum, who presented the award said: “Trevor and Diana are very active in their adopter role and we’re very grateful to them for it.
“They are not only a superb asset to the station but are also a supportive partnership to their fellow adopters at other stations."
Staff from the Clacton branch of training programme Essex Cares also picked up an award at the ceremony.
The programme supports adults with learning disabilities, and one of its schemes includes helping trainers work on Thorpe railway station.
Bosses were handed the Innovation Award for their work.
