A CONCERNED grandaughter has hit out at hospital bosses after a catalogue of errors left her gran with infected wounds that delayed her cancer treatment.
Karlie McGregor from Harwich Road in Beaumont cum Moze said her 80-year-old grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery to remove a lump and the lymph nodes it had spread to.
The operation went well but when pessure dressing was taken off, her skin was ripped off in six places.
The wounds that became infected and delayed her radiotherapy treatment.
Karlie said she had complained but was told the notes had been lost.
A spokesman for Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust said: “We are sorry that Karlie McGregor feels that the care her grandmother received was substandard.
"We acknowledge that the progress of the investigation has been slow, not least because it has taken some time to gather together all the documentation relating to this episode of care. This is not an acceptable situation and the Trust apologises for this.”
