Kirby: Residents raise hundreds for paramedic fund
9:00am Saturday 26th October 2013 in News
KIND-HEARTED residents raised hundreds of pounds for a charity which supports paramedics and their families.
The tenants at Greenfields Sheltered Housing in Kirby Cross held a coffee morning event to raise cash for the Ambulance Service Benevolent Fund.
Organised by Greenfields resident Sylvia Collins, the event raised a massive £500 total.
A cheque has now been handed over to grateful paramedics.
One of the fundraisers Garry Champion said: “The Ambulance Service Benevolent Fund is there to support the families of the Essex paramedics who do such sterling work in our community and often with little thanks.”
More than £20,000 has been raised for the charity in the last two years.
The paramedics themselves raised the bulk with fundraisers, including a gruelling bike-riding challenge from Lands End to John O’Groats.
