Clacton staff stand up to cancer
7:30am Friday 25th October 2013 in News
A GROUP of Clacton women spent a day on their feet to boost the battle against cancer.
Charity movement Stand Up to Cancer organised a national event on Friday, encouraging people to stay standing throughout the day to raise sponsorship cash.
Six Essex County Council workers based at Magnet House in Clacton managed to conquer the challenge, staying on their feet for more than seven hours during their working day.
And the women smashed their fundraising target, collecting a grand total of £730.
One fundraiser Steph said: “We definitely started to feel it in our backs, but it was a lot of fun.
“We followed the fundraising guidance and were lunging round the room all day but we were all a bit sore the next day.
“The total is more than we ever thought we would get. We’re delighted.”
People can still sponsor the women online at justgiving.com/teams/BSAStandup2Cancer.
