KIND-HEARTED club members stepped in to help a Walton church after it was raided by crooks.
Burglars broke into All Saints’ Church on September 13, smashing a window to gain entry to the building.
They snatched a collection box – which contained just £1, having recently been emptied.
But the bill for the new window totalled more than £50 and Walton’s Royal British Legion Club stepped in to fund it for the church.
All Saints’ warden Brenda Warnes said: “We had a phone call from the club a few days after the article appeared in the paper.
“They decided to cover the costs for us to make sure the church was not left out of pocket by the whole thing.
“It was a wonderful gesture and we are very grateful.”
