A FORMER policeman from Clacton completed a huge 183-mile sponsored trek for charity.
Retired PC Andrew Wright, who grew up in the town, was joined in the gruelling slog by current Suffolk cops Marc Norman and Steve Bright.
The trio walked 183-mile distance from Sedbury Cliffs on the Severn estuary to Prestatyn on the Irish Sea in the charity challenge, completing it in less than eight days.
Rookie-walker Andrew joined experienced trekkers Marc and Steve to raise cash for St Helena Hospice, while other funds raised went to dog rescue charity Greyhound Gap and Ipswich-based St Elizabeth Hospice.
Andrew, who raised just over £1,100 of a massive £4,000 total, said: “I know from personal experience the excellent support that staff at the hospices give to both the people in care and their families."
