Tendring: New plan implemented to maximise beach hut potential
2:00pm Tuesday 15th October 2013 in News
A BEACH hut plan will be implemented to make sure Tendring makes the most of its seafront structures.
At a Tendring Council cabinet meeting councillors labelled beach huts a vital part of the seaside economy and experience in the district.
They have now put a Beach Hut Strategy plan in place in a bid to improve current huts and ensure more are added to the ranks.
The new strategy will provide a plan to deal with issues like poor appearance, security, facilities and infrastructure.
The council owns 3,339 beach huts across Clacton, Holland-on-Sea, Frinton, Walton, Dovercourt and Brightlingsea.
Councillors say revenue generated from the beach huts can be used to fund other seafront improvements, such as recharging beaches and maintaining sea defences in the district.
