PLANS for a huge housing development on a former reservoir in Frinton have been put on ice.
Developers want to build 38 new homes on the site off Wittonwood road – considered to be the last site free for major development within the famous Frinton gates.
The application was discussed at Tendring Council’s planning committee.
And councillors decided to defer a decision for three months to allow for further negotiations with developers One Property Group.
They want to see the developers provide a financial contribution to affordable housing in the area as part of a Section 106 agreement.
Councillors also want a play area to be included in the plans for the site, and for access to be improved.
The development scheme has already been opposed by Frinton and Walton Town Council and Frinton Residents’ Association.
Concerns were raised over the extra traffic which would be generated around the gates area, as well as there being an insufficient infrastructure in place to deal with such a big development.
The new scheme would include 38 houses on the 2.5-acre site, including a mix of two, three and four-bedroom properties.
