A day in the life...of a solicitor
7:30am Monday 14th October 2013 in News
HIGH profile murders or big drugs gangs, Laura Austin has seen it all.
The 35-year-old solicitor and partner of Levy and Co, based in Clacton, represents anyone who finds themselves on the wrong side of the law.
Whether it’s a road traffic offence or a plane hijack, Laura has been in court to defend those accused.
“This was something I have wanted to do since I was very young,” she said.
“As a child I watched the courtroom dramas on television and wanted to be the advocate who could persuade the court to come round to my way of thinking - I felt that there was something impressive in that.
“These days that only represents a very small part of my job, but nevertheless the court room advocacy for me represents an adrenalin rush not mirrored elsewhere.”
Despite it being hard work and long hours Laura loves her job.
“Unsurprisingly, no two weeks are the same so the variation in work is a huge advantage,” she said.
“I would definitely recommend anyone to pursue a career in law if that way inclined."
