Youngsters get a taste of life at big school
8:45am Wednesday 9th October 2013 in News
YOUNGSTERS from primary schools across Clacton were invited to taste life at big school.
Year five and six pupils were invited to Clacton Coastal Academy, in Pathfields Road, for a special taster day last Friday.
They created the ‘best sandwich in the world’ using cheeses from around the globe in the languages department and finished off with fire writing and homemade lava lamps in science.
The aim of the day is to help pupils with the transition from a primary to a secondary school.
Principal Tracey Hemming said: “This has been a really successful day, the pupils from the primary schools were enthusiastic and happy in their lessons and our staff welcomed the opportunity to excite the younger pupils with their subjects.”
Year seven students at the academy acted as ambassadors for the day and were given the task of escorting the younger pupils from class to class.
