Walton: Caravan park given year-round permission despite danger fears
3:00pm Sunday 6th October 2013 in News
A WALTON holiday park has been handed permission to open all year round for caravan owners.
The Park Resorts-run Naze Marine Holiday Park launched an application for the extended licence in June.
It has now been approved by Tendring Council, allowing people who own caravans at the site to occupy it all year.
Holidaymakers will still be restricted to using the park in-season, from March 1 to October 31.
But some local councillors raised concerns over the move, believing it could create a higher risk if there is ever a repeat of the 1953 flooding.
Naze Marine Holiday Park sits below sea level and anyone staying at the site when a flood hit would be particularly vulnerable.
A condition of the approval means holiday park bosses will have to complete new flood risk assessments and evacuation plans before their 12-month licence is rubber stamped.
