Walton/Clacton: Six year-old cyclist's big effort for charity
12:00pm Sunday 29th September 2013 in News
A YOUNG cyclist raised hundreds of pounds for life-saving water kits by completing a pier to pier trek.
Six year-old cyclist Bethan Pratt, from Walton, managed to ride the seafront path between Clacton pier and Walton pier in just over an hour.
The youngster came up with the idea on her own, securing nearly £500 in sponsorship to complete the route.
She pedalled the seven-mile seafront path on September 21 and will now donate the money to charity.
Cash raised will fund 14 static kits for Christian charity Lifewater.
They will be shipped out to underprivileged countries and used to provide clean water every day for more than 800 people.
Bethan’s mum Michelle said: “She wanted to raise the profile of the cause and help people and we are so proud of her efforts.
“We also want to say a big thank you to everyone who supported her and gave sponsorship money to help the cause.”
