Clacton: Extra session for free micro-chipping
6:00pm Friday 27th September 2013 in News
EXTRA micro-chipping services have been arranged to keep up with demand from Tendring dog owners.
Tendring Council dog wardens had organised a series of sessions in October to allow owners to get their pooches chipped for free.
They have now been forced to add another date after being swamped with requests for the service.
The extra chipping session will be held at Clacton Town Hall on October 30, from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
Wardens are hoping to chip 30-40 dogs at each session.
Tendring Council leader Peter Halliday said: “As an owner of four dogs myself I would urge people to take up the offer to get their pets chipped free of charge.
“If all the places on the surgeries are taken up that could be another 160 dogs that will be chipped and it also makes it much easier for our wardens to return them quickly should they ever go missing or lost.”
It will become law for all dogs to be micro-chipped in 2016.
The extra session is on top of already-announced chipping events at Jaywick Community Centre on October 8, 9.30am-2.30pm, Brightlingsea Town Council Offices on October 11, 9.30am-4.30pm, and Weeley Council Offices on October 15.
The Weeley session is already fully booked but places are still available at the other locations by calling 01255 686766.
