Frinton: Appeal lodged over controversial alley decision
4:00pm Friday 27th September 2013 in News
AN appeal has been launched against the addition of a Frinton alleyway to the definitive map.
The alley, which once ran between Connaught Avenue and Old Way, was bricked up and incorporated into a shop by its owner.
But Tendring Council and Frinton and Walton Town Council launched a campaign to see it returned to a footpath.
Essex County Council decided it would be returned to a walkway, but an appeal has been lodged against the decision.
Martin Whitrod leases the shop to run his business Artishack.
He says it would be catastrophic for his business if the shop is gutted to re-create the alleyway, and has led the appeal against the council decision.
Martin said: “All the appeal material has been submitted and received by Essex County Council now.
“Now we just have to wait and see what the council decides.”
No deadline has been set for the decision.
