Frinton bookshop hails Books are my Bag scheme
12:00pm Friday 27th September 2013 in News
FRINTON bookshop owners have hailed a national scheme which brought hundreds of customers flooding through their door.
The Books Are My Bag initiative was launched to boost bookshops around the country in a coordinated effort to encourage people inside.
And Frinton’s Caxton Books, in Connaught Avenue, got in on the act on the scheme’s launch day.
Staff laid out treats to bring customers through the door, including handing out free Books Are My Bag tote bags and special cupcakes.
More than 100 people visited the store and Caxton Books co-owner Sally Johnson said the launch day was a massive success.
She said: “Events and schemes like this are important to us because it is a challenging time for local book shops.
“Our mission is to make people realise or remember the experience of being in a real bookshop.
“Our challenge now is to build on this and keep the success going.”
