Timetable set for maternity services review
4:00pm Thursday 26th September 2013 in News
A TIMETABLE has been set for a review into maternity services in Tendring.
Plans for a shake-up of the service, which could see the unit at Clacton Hospital closed, were put on hold last month.
North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group agreed to the delay following recommendations from a team of experts from the Department of Health.
The team said health bosses should focus on improving standards at hospitals in Colchester after they were criticised in the Keogh review.
Now the board has agreed the timetable for the review to be carried out.
A report looking at the case for change will be presented to the board by November and if it is agreed further options will be presented
This will then be agreed and options will be presented to the board in January 2014.
Advice will be sought from Essex County Council’s health overview scrutiny committee between January to March.
The proposals will then be considered by the board in March and a consultation will then be carried out before a decision is made.
