Quit this Stoptober
2:00pm Wednesday 25th September 2013 in News
SMOKERS in Essex are being encouraged to kick the habit next month.
Essex County Council hopes smokers will sign-up for Stoptober, a national attempt to stop smoking.
Reducing smoking levels is one of the council’s key priorities since it took over public health in April.
In Essex 18.7 per cent of adults smoke.
People who sign up for Stoptober receive a 28-day help pack, with evidence showing those who stop for four weeks are five times more likely to give up for good.
Visit smokefree.nhs.uk/Stoptober for more information on Stoptober or essex.gov.uk/health-social-care for more on local support services.
