Frinton: Young gardeners hoist prestigious Green Flag award
7:30am Tuesday 24th September 2013 in News
SCHOOLDCHILDREN from Frinton were given the honour of hoisting the town’s prestigious new green flag.
Frinton’s Crescent Gardens have clinched the Green Flag award – the national benchmark for parks and open spaces - for the fourth consecutive year.
The new flag was hoisted into place by pupils from the gardening club at Frinton Primary School.
Crescent Gardens are maintained by Tendring Council with the help of Frinton in Bloom volunteers, and youngsters from the school gardening club have been helping to plant new flowers and trees at the site.
Council Leader Peter Halliday said the award-winning garden is a source of pride for the town.
He said a lot of hard work has gone into keeping the gardens in top condition.
“We really appreciate the effort of our partners at the sites, such as Frinton in Bloom, and it is great to see the pupils at the local primary getting involved," he said.
“It is only fitting that they were asked to hoist the green flag which we hope will be flying for many more years to come.”
