Postmaster claims the Government is gambling with the Post Office's future

A POSTMASTER from Holland-on-Sea claims the Government is “gambling” with the future of the Post Office.
The Government yesterday confirmed it is pressing ahead with controversial plans to privatise the Royal Mail by selling shares.
Business Secretary Vince Cable said an initial public offering is expected in the coming weeks.
Members of the public will be able to apply for shares as well as institutional investors.
But the Communication Workers Union (CWU) opposes the idea and is to ballot its members for strike action.
KT King, who runs the Stratford Road Post Office in Holland-on-Sea, said: “The Government must protect the Royal Mail.
“If it is privatised we just don’t know what the private owners are going to do.
“The Government is gambling with the future of the post office.
“They should halt this plan and think about it again.”
