Seafront parking restrictions could be extended to side roads
6:00pm Monday 23rd September 2013 in News
FRUSTRATED residents living in side roads off Clacton seafront have been told parking restrictions could be extended.
Homeowners in roads off Marine Parade West, which include Wash Lane, Nelson, Road, Trafalgar Road, St Vincent Road and Collingwood Road, hit out at new parking restrictions for pushing coaches and caravans on to residential roads.
New rules were put in place by the North Essex Parking Partnership from Martello Bay to Holland-on-Sea to prevent coaches and caravans from blocking the seafront.
But ward councillor Chris Griffiths said the restrictions simply moved the problem on to the side roads.
Nick Turner, Tendring Council cabinet member for the environment, said the council will consider extending restrictions on camper vans to the side roads, as well as extending any future injunctions on camping during the air show.
He said any restrictions are dependent on the Colchester Council run North Essex Parking Partnership, which is responsible for on-street parking in Tendring.
