Off-licences warned not to serve alcoholics in Clacton
2:00pm Thursday 19th September 2013 in News
OFF-licences are being warned not to serve alcoholics who are blighting Clacton town centre.
It is feared the increase in drunks and beggars in the town could put people off coming to the resort.
Tendring Council and Essex Police have now joined forces for a new initiative after it was claimed street drinkers are harming the town’s image.
Licensed premises are being asked not to sell booze to people who appear to be drunk, are known to be street drinkers, or those buying alcohol for them.
Police said they would also prosecute those who sell alcohol illegally.
