MP angry with "despicable" Royal Mail campaigner
12:00pm Saturday 14th September 2013 in News
CLACTON MP Douglas Carswell has hit out at a Royal Mail campaigner who he claims has sent him campaign postcards on behalf of a dead constituent.
The Save Our Royal Mail campaign was launched nationally to fight Government proposals to privatise parts of the business.
The campaign saw residents asked to send a pre-written post card to their MP in objection.
Mr Carswell wrote back to all 351 people who sent him the card, but then discovered some claimed they never contacted him.
He has now called on the campaign to investigate who’s been filling out the cards.
“I then had a call from a window who was very upset that I had written to her husband, who had died a few months earlier.
“Clearly some someone has been sending these postcards on behalf of others who are unaware.
“To do that on behalf of those who are no longer with us is despicable.”
The Save Our Post Office campaign group was not available for comment.
