Residents asked to dig in for special farm open day
2:59pm Wednesday 11th September 2013 in News
A SPECIAL open day will take place at a vegetable farm with a difference.
Bennison Farm, in Frating Road, Thorrington, will be hosting the event on Sunday.
The farm is part of the Community Supported Agriculture project, which sees a weekly share in the harvest of the farm going to its members.
The members get to learn about how their food is grown by holding shared work days and social events on the land.
The open day will include children’s activities and a farm walk.
There will also be a bring and share barbecue from 1pm and visitors are also invited to join the members at the work morning from 10am.
“This could be weeding, planting or harvesting – a shared task is fun and gets the work done really quickly,” said Danny Steele, from the farm.
