CRY fundraiser to be a real variety
12:00pm Friday 6th September 2013 in News
A CHURCH drama group will perform a variety of musical classics to raise cash for heart charity CRY.
The Emmanuel Church group in Walton has launched the light-hearted show, which will feature group songs, solos and duets from famous musicals.
And the group decided to donate any proceeds to CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young – in memory of Frinton teenager Andrew Gard.
Andrew died just before his 18th birthday from a sudden heart attack in 1997.
Show organiser Lyn Mann said: “We have been doing shows with the drama group for many years and have raised thousands of pounds for charities over the years.
“This year we thought we would do something light and it is a very fun show.
“We decided to support CRY with the proceeds because I taught Andrew Gard when he was at nursery school, so it is a cause very close to my heart and on that we want to support.”
Performers will take to the stage for the show on Saturday September 7 at 7.30pm, while a second performance will take place on Sunday at 2pm.
It will take place at the Emmanuel Church on New Pier Street, Walton.
Tickets are free but a collection will be held to raise cash for CRY. Tickets can be booked by calling 01255 673761.
