Residents angry at new parking restrictions
6:00pm Thursday 5th September 2013 in News
FRUSTRATED residents have hit out at new parking restrictions for pushing coaches and caravans on to residential roads in Clacton.
New rules were put in place by the North Essex Parking Partnership from Martello Bay to Holland-on-Sea to prevent coaches and caravans from blocking the seafront.
The move has been welcomed by some seafront residents and district councillors.
But Norman Viner, 71, from Wash Lane, said the restrictions have just pushed the problem on to nearby roads.
Council leader Peter Halliday said: “The restrictions have solved the problems on the seafront, but it now appears we have a problem elsewhere.
“We will now look at how to solve that.
“It is a difficult situation as we want people coming here.
“We tried putting campervans at a car park in Holland-on-Sew, but then we had Holland Residents’ Association jumping up and down about that – and then they said they didn’t want them on teh seafront either.
“I apologise for any inconvenience this has caused residents in Wash Lane and we will do what we can to address this.”
