Vandals damage trees at Jaywick park
10:00am Thursday 5th September 2013 in News
ANGRY councillors have hit out at “mindless idiots” for damaging trees at a park in Jaywick.
Vandals snapped branches off a number of trees at Crossways Park.
Councillors Dan Casey and Nick Brown said it was the second time trees at the site had been targeted since December.
“During the holidays damage has been caused to a number of trees at Crossways,” said Mr Casey.
“Branches have been broken off. As far as I am concerned this has been done by mindless idiots.
“It is such a shame as this park is for everyone to enjoy and a few people keep spoiling it.
“A lot of work has been done and money spent on keeping our parks nice for all ages, so it is very upsetting to see it damaged again.”
Mr Casey has reported the incident to Tendring Council, which is responsible for the park.
Last year vandals damaged and uprooted trees at Brooklands Gardens, which had been planted by volunteers behind the resource centre.
Anyone who saw the vandals should call Clacton police on 101.
