Call for pavement cleaning in Frinton
12:00pm Thursday 29th August 2013 in News
SHOPKEEPERS and councillors are upset about the state of the pavements in Frinton and Walton.
There is currently no cash set aside for cleaning the high street pavement in the towns.
Chamber of Commerce boss Wendy Simon said: “They are extremely dirty and we are very concerned over the state they are in from the busy summer period.
“Common sense would say that all shopkeepers should spend a few minutes cleaning the space by their shops each day, because it reflects on their business.
“We can encourage people to do that but we are perturbed by the lack of provision for cleaning.”
Mayor Iris Johnson said she feels “let down” by the lack of a cleaning provision.
Frinton and Walton Town Council has written to Essex County Council to express the disappointment of members and ask for their streets to be cleaned.
