Clacton: Cyclist left bleeding by object thrown from car
6:00pm Monday 26th August 2013 in News
A CYCLIST was left with a gashed lip and blood pouring from her face after an object was thrown at her from a passing car.
A car came towards the woman and started to slow down as she biked home from work on a cycle track alongside the A133 near Brook Retail Park.
The passenger-side window was wound down and the cyclist was hit hard in the face by a small missile.
The object, thought to be a coin, cut straight through her top lip, leaving her bleeding at the side of the road.
The incident happened on Friday August 16 at about 7pm.
One driver saw the attack unfold and stopped to help, while off-duty paramedics spotted the cyclist bleeding at the side of the road as they passed and stopped to stitch her lip up.
The car is described as small and black, possibly a Ford, with dark tinted windows.
It had been seen driving erratically from Frating towards Clacton, making several dangerous overtaking manoeuvres.
Police officers labelled it a malicious act and are taking it very seriously.
PC Sarah Rouse said: “This was a deliberate act of absolute sheer malice and these two men have to be stopped.”
