New homes proposal for Walton given go ahead
4:00pm Monday 26th August 2013 in News
PLANS for 14 new homes on a plot of land in Walton have been given the green light by town councillors.
A proposal has been launched to create 11 bungalows and three two-storey houses on a long-abandoned allotment site.
The site runs behind Butchers Lane and borders Chamberlain Avenue.
Frinton and Walton Town councillors backed the scheme by a narrow margin.
Three councillors voted in favour of the development and two voted against when the plans were discussed at the council’s last meeting. Six councillors abstained from voting.
Some councillors did raise concerns over visual pollution for the residents in Butchers Lane.
The site, which was wild and overgrown until last week, has now been cleared ready for development.
Tendring Council will have the final say on whether to allow the scheme to go ahead. District councils will discuss the plans at a forthcoming planning meeting.
