New figures reveal Clacton as second most deprived seaside town

NEW figures have labelled Clacton as the second most deprived seaside town in the country.
The Office for National Statistics has revealed a new scale of deprivation in 57 coastal destinations in England for 2007 and 2010.
Clacton is second on the list after Blackpool, despite being just one fifth of its size in population.
The study highlighted how seaside towns are suffering above-average deprivation - it looked at income, employment, health, education, housing, crime and living environment.
The figures come just weeks after a report from the Centre for Social Justice, which said Clacton had become a “dumping ground” for vulnerable people.
