A POPULAR member of staff at Clacton Hospital has retired after 30 years at the site.
Veronica Pope, deputy site manager at the hospital, in Tower Road, started work at the Essex Hall Hospital in Colchester in July 1976.
She was appointed by Verity Coulthard, who was at her retirement party last week.
“Both present and retired health service staff packed into the committee room at the hospital to wish Veronica a long and happy retirement,” said Mrs Coulthard.
“In 1979 Veronica moved to Middlesex House and in July 1983 she took up her appointment at Clacton Hospital where she had worked for the past 30 years undertaking the role of deputy site manager.
“At the presentation of numerous gift, including an engraved crystal vase from her many colleagues and friends she was described as the most people person people had met, a friend to all treating everyone with kindness and respect.
“All staff in all departments, including the visiting consultants had contributed to the many leaving gifts presented.”
A presentation was also made from members of the Hospital League of Friends.
