High Court injunction to stop seafront camping during air show
4:00pm Tuesday 20th August 2013 in News
A HIGH Court injunction has been granted that will stop overnight camping during Clacton Air Show.
The move comes after travellers pitched up next in Marine Parade West, next to West Greensward, days before last year’s show.
Tendring Council, which organises the annual event, successfully applied for the order at the Royal Courts of Justice in London on Friday.
It has been granted in favour of the council, Essex County Council and Smith Farms to prevent overnight camping on car parks, seafront roads and open spaces in Tendring over the Clacton Air Show period this year.
The order will run until August 28 and covers specified areas from Jaywick, Clacton, Holland, Frinton and up to the Naze at Walton.
It applies to any campervan, mobile home, caravan or tent and also covers those roads adjoining the seafront.
Anyone who fails to obey the order can be held in contempt of court and could be sent to prison, fined or have their assets seized.
