AN artist from Frinton has painted a stunning portrait of Kate Middleton as a gift for her newborn child – the future King.
Ray Gaston, of Pole Barn Lane, started painting the picture of the Duchess of Cambridge after it was announced she was pregnant.
And the talented professional artist completed the portrait just one day before Kate gave birth to Prince George on July 22.
He plans to ship it off to Buckingham Palace as a gift to the newborn future monarch.
Ray, 64, said: “I’m proud of the result and people who I have shown it to have been very complementary.
“I hope they like it and it is a keepsake from a very special time.”
Ray has been an art teacher for adult classes in Clacton and Walton for the last 14 years, but recently retired from teaching to concentrate on creating his own work.
He spent more than 20 hours getting the masterpiece just right.
