A VITAL food bank service will open its doors on Friday to boost struggling residents in Walton.

Organisers have been working to set up the service for several months.

The bank will act as an emergency food supply which can be distributed to needy people who are struggling to buy food.

Food bank secretary Jill Joshua said: “Everything is in place now and we are ready to go.

“There are a lot of people who desperately need something like this in place so we decided to do it sooner rather than later."

It will run from Walton Community Centre in Standley Road and will be opened by MP Douglas Carswell on Friday.
