A CONTROVERSIAL plan for an “industrial-style” fence to block access to a popular open area at Walton Mere has outraged residents.
Owner Vincent Titchmarsh, of Silverbrook Estates, has moved to fence off the triangle of grass, off Mill Lane, to protect it following an unsuccessful village green application by residents.
But residents claim the 6ft high fence will block historic views of the beauty spot.
A spokesman for Silverbrook Estates said: “We had no intention of spending an enormous amount of money putting up a fence, but we were advised to put one up by our lawyers, who said if we don’t we may have to go through another village green application."
