A RESIDENT is calling for safety improvements at a dangerous junction after being involved in a smash with a hospital transport.

Richard Barrett, of Park Square West in Jaywick, was hit by the vehicle in the junction between his road and Spenser Way.

Mr Barrett says the junction is a constant danger, with motorists crossing it without stopping.

He wants to see ‘Give Way’ signs added to make the layout clearer to unsuspecting drivers.

He said: “It is a very bad junction and I have had a good few near misses there, at least three or four.

“Cars just don’t realise they have to stop and go flying across the road.

“It is incredibly dangerous. I think installing give way signs would be very helpful and a big step in the right direction."

An Essex County Council advised Mr Barrett to bring up the issue with his local councillor.

Jaywick councillor Dan Casey agreed to take up the cause.
