Clacton: Dying woman records charity single
5:00pm Monday 18th March 2013 in News
A CLACTON mum with terminal cancer is putting the finishing touches to a charity single.
Wendy Gavin, 53, does not have long to live after being diagnosed with lung cancer last year.
But she decided to dedicate the rest of her life to recording a fundraising song to boost cancer care in Clacton.
Keen poet Wendy penned a song called Heaven is Waiting, and has now recorded it professionally.
Wendy said: “We are putting the finishing touches to it and I can’t wait to hear the finished product.
“I have had a tremendous amount of help from a lot of very kind people. Words can’t express how grateful I am to everyone."
Local guitarist Charlie Rogers helped Wendy record the song after seeing her tale in the Gazette.
They are hoping to release the song in the next few weeks. It will also be available to download on iTunes.
Wendy is hoping to raise £25,000 through selling the single.
She wants the cash to go towards extra Macmillan Cancer Care nurses to help cancer sufferers, as well as providing chemotherapy treatment facilities at Clacton Hospital.
