Users to be left in the cold by charity service cuts
A VITAL support charity in Clacton will be downsizing after making its workforce redundant.
Family Support Clacton runs two day centres in Rosemary Road and Jaywick Lane and provides support for elderly people in the town.
But it now looks likely that the Rosemary Road centre will be closed completely and the charity will run solely from its other site.
Staff members were told several weeks ago they were being made redundant.
They have been encouraged to re-apply for jobs with the charity at the Jaywick Lane centre, but there will be fewer positions available and some workers will be forced to leave.
One member of staff, who did not want to be named said: “We were all told that we were being made redundant.
"This will still leave a lot of people without an important service. It is sad to see it happening.”
Until now the charity has run three buses to ferry people to and from the day centres.
That will reportedly be reduced to one full-time bus.
Family Support Clacton bosses declined to comment.
