SCHOOLCHILDREN were delighted when their classrooms were inundated with newly-hatched chicks.

Oakwood Infants School in Clacton has been running a project on the life cycle of chickens.

The children have been helping to look after ten eggs which have now all hatched, sending fluffy chicks spilling into the school.

The chicks are now living in a special heated enclosure at the school.

Headteacher Carol Carlsson Browne said: “It is an exciting and practical way for the children to learn about this.

“The children have absolutely loved looking after them and holding them.”

At the end of the project we will send all of the chicks to good homes.
