Jaywick: Five injured in two-car crash

FIVE people were taken to hospital after a two-vehicle smash in Jaywick.

A car and an ambulance crashed into each other in Spenser Way at about 1.45pm.

The Essex Air Ambulance landed on the playing field of the nearby Frobisher Primary School to allow paramedics to get to the scene quickly.

Firefighters were also called to cut two of the injured people from the vehicles.

All five people were taken to Colchester General Hospital. One person suffered slight injuries while two others had no obvious injuries but were taken for tests.

The other two casualties, a man and a woman, were confirmed as having non-life threatening injuries.
